2. Ayia Napa

EasyJet Holidays has got us ready to pack our suitcase right now with a SEVEN NIGHT holiday to Larnaca staying at the Panas Holiday Village, room-only, from £166pp. The only snag is that flights are from Liverpool, so it's not ideal if you're based in the south.

3. Berlin

Europe's hippest city right now isn't off-the-scale expensive, in fact you can holiday there for less than £150 in super-stylish Hotel Q. The Olive Garden, Alicante

5. Alicante

For something a bit different this summer, check out The Olive Garden in Jijong, a Spanish glamping site which is an absolute bargain for a group of mates. Almond Tree is the prettiest of the bell tents and offers fully furnished accommodation for up to four people: there's a double bed, two singles plus side tables, bedding box and solar fairy lights. The site opens 1 June for the summer season and the tent costs from £39.40 per night, so if two of you went for a week it's just £137.90pp. Oh, and the price includes breakfast (breads, butter, jams, fruit, cereal, yoghurts, tea and coffee ) delivered daily to the tent, on site pool and hammocks. Book at Pitchup and for flights go to Monarch, which flies to Alicante from £30 each way.

6. Budapest

Hyatt Regency, Cologne

7. Cologne

A majestic cathedral, picturesque Old Town, Kolsch beer and great shopping on the Hohe Straße and Schildergasse; this German metropolis has bags of city break appeal.
