A teen may be permanently scarred after developing a nightmarish allergic reaction to an eyebrow tinting treatment.

Polly Smith, 19, wanted eyebrows on fleek, so she ponied up 35 British pounds at a salon to thread, wax, and dye her brows. At first, she looked cute. But hours later, the skin around her eyebrows turned red and itchy. The next morning, she was horrified to find that her eyes had swelled to such an extent that she couldn't open one of them.

An infection made the situation even worse — her brows turned yellow and scabbed over.

"It was horrible. One day I would be OK and kind of be able to laugh about it but then I would break down in tears," she said, according to the Mirror.

Medics diagnosed her with a severe allergy to the dye and said she may be scarred for life. She was prescribed a mix of antibiotics, steroids, and antihistamines. Her eyebrows have begun to fall out. Smith is a dancer, which means the way she looks is tied to her career success.

"Being a performer, if my face is disfigured, it is going to impact me at auditions," she said, according to the Daily Mail.

If you've ever dyed your hair, you probably know that you're supposed to do a patch test (a small test of the dye to see if your body reacts to it before you dye your whole head), but what's crazy is that Smith actually did the patch test two days before her salon appointment and was totally fine.

"I had the treatment to get nice pretty eyebrows and now they are patchier than ever. I feel so disappointed," she said.
